General
camp information:
Register early!
Space is limited and we try to maintain a very low instructor/student ratio. Also:
for the first time (finally) we can take credit card payment.
This year we are fortunate, once again, to be located at Camp
Shotokans original home The Academy
by the Sea, in Carlsbad, CA.
Camp dates are
August 11 14. As those of you who have
been here before will remember, Carlsbad is the perfect Southern California
Beach town! It is located 30 miles between San Diego and Orange County, and is
surrounded by miles of coast line and tons of stuff to do.
As you can see by the picture above, we are located just
steps from the Pacific Ocean (the gym is in the big building in the center of
the photo, our dorms are to the left of the gym). As in previous years, campers are welcome to bring non-training
family and friends (at a big discount off regular camp prices), for a great
(and inexpensive) weekend at the beach or, as many do, as part of a longer
Southern California vacation..

here for more pictures and information about our location and the beautiful
city of Carlsbad: http://www.army-navyacademy.com/ana_campus.html
What to bring:
Mainly beach and light
recreation wear. The weather in Carlsbad is absolutely beautiful this time of
year. Shorts, t-shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, sandals, swimwear & SUN
SCREEN, a light jacket or sweatshirt for the evening
will be perfect. Also, bring towels and personal items, (a pillow, 2 sheets
& a blanket will be provided), cameras and film, surf and boogie boards,
cards, games, etc.
Your camp fees will include
everything you need: shared double, or triple-room, three all-you-can-eat meals
(starting with dinner on Thursday and finishing with brunch on Sunday), all
training fees, and a complimentary camp T-shirt and group photo.
Please scroll down on this page to see camp fees and rates.
On behalf of the AJKA, warm
regards. We hope to see you at Camp Shotokan 2005!
Yours in Shotokan,
Edmond Otis
Chairman and Chief Instructor AJKA
